Dr. Marcela Rodriguez- Campo

Dr. Marcela Rodriguez-Campo is a first-generationColombian immigrant, educator, poet, and scholar. She received her Ph.D. inCurriculum and Instruction from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with anemphasis in Cultural Studies, Multicultural Education, and InternationalEducation (CSIEME). Marcela attributes her pursuit of a doctoral degree to herhigh school students who inspired her to focus on developing strategies forcreating more supportive school climates for immigrant students and students ofcolor. Her scholarship examines the relationship between Latinx immigrantstudent experiences, family separation, and education to develop supportiveschool climates. Previously, she served as a secondary English teacher andSpeech & Debate coach in the Clark County School District. Theseexperiences along with her own positionalities have guided her desire tosupport students in their journey to becoming educators in order to diversifythe teacher workforce. Currently, she serves as the Academic Success Coach onthe Title V-HSI Grant Team in the School of Education at Nevada State College.She also serves on the Las Vegas Advisory Council for the Hispanic ScholarshipFund. Her work has been featured in the Latino Book Review, NevadaHumanities , The Journal of Latina Critical FeminismLatinxSpaces , Huizache, Latinx Talk, and others. She is an avidhiker, plant lady, and novice skater.
